Flora Holland Flower Market (organized chaos)

This morning we left Amsterdam and headed out to the flower market.   http://www.floraholland.com

The whole building smelled wonderful (if you like the smell of flowers).  It was interesting to see how they use a clock system to purchase the flowers – it is basically opposite from an ebay auction – the price starts high and the first bidder wins the bid when they hit the button as the price decreases.

After the flowers were auctioned off there was a swarm of people on electric carts delivering the flowers to the designated locations of the buyers.   It was amazing to see them drive around in what looked like chaos but yet nobody hit anyone…

We then went to the Peace Palace – home of the International Court of Justice

Traveling South we came to the provence of South Holland and visited the Storm Surge Barrier.  If you were to stand this structure up vertical, it would be taller than the eiffel tower.
