First Day in the Netherlands

We all arrived safely and met the students that had different flight schedules without any problems.  It is nice to be able to meet everyone “by the BurgerKing” in an airport and have everyone there in good health and with their luggage in one piece.  🙂  The only problem is that many were pretty tired.

The bus picked us up from the airport and took us to Haarlem.  We visited the Saint Bavo church with an interesting history.  We were told that the organ was played by Handel and Mozart.  They asked Nielsen one year to play it but he turned them down 🙂

After exploring Haarlem including finding the jewelry store of Corrie Ten Boom, we hoped back on the bus and headed to Amsterdam to our hotel.

Dinner was in a nice restaurant near the hotel where we had a good “dutch” meal of

Erwtensoep,  Gehaktbal met Hutspot  with a dessert of ice cream with slagrom and a pepernoten.
